you know how good it looks in real life

let’s make sure your camera shows that too

You’ve made the thing. You know it looks good. Then you take the photo and somehow, it doesn’t.

The light has changed everything.

The colours look wrong.

The background is competing for attention.

And the thing you were so proud of suddenly looks flat on a screen.

Your decorating, baking, cooking or making skills aren't the problem.

Photography is a different skill and lucky for you, it’s one you can learn!

don’t let your photos undersell your work

For a lot of creative businesses, the photograph is the closest thing a customer gets to holding the finished product in their hands.

It has to communicate the detail you've spent hours creating, the quality you care about and the reason someone should choose your work over the next person they find online.

So when the photograph doesn't quite capture that, it can be tempting to think the answer is more equipment, a better backdrop or simply getting better at what you make.

Sometimes the answer is much simpler: you need to know how to improve what the camera sees.

we’ll work with what you’ve got

Your kitchen. Your bench. Your window. Your phone or camera.

We'll find the light that works. Move the things that don't. Try different angles, backgrounds, props and arrangements. And you'll start to see what each change does to the photograph in front of you.

personalise it to your niche

Whether you make it yourself or you gather and sell it, every business owner needs photography skills. This isn’t an online course giving the same generic information to everyone. It’s tailored for you.

you are your own starting line

We'll look at what's happening in your images, work out what's getting in the way and make changes while you're there with your camera or phone in hand.

You can ask the questions that come up in the moment on our 1:1 calls.

we'll find what’s getting in the way

Every business is different, so there's no fixed list of things we have to cover. Depending on what you're struggling with, we might look at:

you don’t have to cross your fingers and hope for the best

at the same time, the goal isn't to turn you into a professional photographer

It's to give you enough understanding to look at what you're creating and know what to do next.

You'll know what to look for when you set up. You'll know how to adjust things when the light isn't working or the photograph feels flat. You'll know how to use your space and equipment more deliberately.

So the next time you've made something you're proud of you’ll know how to capture it well.

if you’re responsible for making the thing and showing it to the world, picture perfect is for you

And if you've ever looked at your own photograph and thought, that's not what it looked like when I made it, you're in the right place.

1. before we meet

Send me a selection of photographs you're currently taking — including a few you love and a few you're not quite happy with.

2. we look at your setup

We'll talk through your products, space, equipment, lighting and styling, then make changes together in real time.

3. you put it into practice

Between sessions, you'll photograph your own work in your own space and put what you've learned to use.

4. we refine

Bring those photographs back and we'll look at what's changed, what still needs attention and where to go next.

The aim isn't one perfect photograph while I'm on the call.

It's better photographs when you're on your own.
